We’re an Istanbul-based tech startup that connects any car owner driving in the city with passengers going in the same direction at the same time. 8 out of 10 cars in traffic have only the driver. That’s why our mission at Volt is to fill up empty seats in traffic. This will eventually help us reach our founding vision of solving Istanbul’s traffic problem, which is ultimately the result of the 85% empty seats!
Unlike other services, we do not put more cars in traffic, and we do not dispatch a car to you. Volt simply connects you with a car that’s already headed in the same direction as you. This allows us to offer you the most affordable ride while allowing our car owners to enjoy driving their own cars for free!
We’re here to ultimately solve traffic in the world’s most congested cities. We’ll do that over the next 10 years following the below strategy:
Aristotle once said: "When your skills and the needs of the world meet, there lies your purpose". Being part of the team that's building Istanbul's future transportation network gives me an incredible deal of purpose!
Three years ago when I moved to Istanbul, I had no idea my perception of time would change so much. One hour to get somewhere within the same city would have seemed crazy. When I found out about Volt, I thought "If I am going to live in Istanbul, this is what I'm going to do." Definitely, it is a completely new culture, but it wouldn't be as exciting otherwise.
Volt tackles one of Istanbul's biggest problems by changing consumption habits. As a product manager there is nothing more satisfactory than being a part of a team that is building a habit changing product and striving to grow it from baby steps to a global scale.
I have invested in Volt, purely due to Ali's passion to try to solve a huge problem, Traffic. Now I see that passion turning into reality!
My investment in Volt can actually be considered social responsibility. Seeing how the distressing traffic of big cities reduces our standards of living and doing something to change this is very rewarding
I'm a big fan of the Volt team and what they're trying to achieve will definitely make Istanbul (and why not the world) a better place. I'm proud to be their first believer and supporter.
In the age of the sharing economy, Volt plays a vital role in reducing a significant problem of major cities: traffic congestion. And it does it in a very creative way. I believe the next decade will be marked by the importance of sharing and I hope Volt will be one of the key influencers of this trend in the coming days.
